Latitude and Longitude Finder
Quickly find the latitude and longitude of any location with our easy-to-use coordinate finder. Instantly get your current GPS coordinates, convert an address to lat long, or share a precise point on the map with a link. Besides, there will be a 3D earth to visualize each coordinate with different color, which is invaluable for learners.

Frequently Asked Questions about GPS Coordinates
How do I find the coordinates of a specific address?
Simply type the address into the search bar at the top of the control panel. The map will automatically pan to the location, and you can click to place a marker and view its coordinates.
How can I find a location using its latitude and longitude?
Enter the latitude and longitude values into their respective fields in the sidebar and click "Add Marker". The map will place a pin at that precise location.
What are the different coordinate formats (DMS, DD, DDM)?
Our tool primarily uses Decimal Degrees (DD), the most common format (e.g., 40.7128, -74.0060). Other formats include Degrees Minutes Seconds (DMS) and Degrees Decimal Minutes (DDM), which are different notations for the same geographic location.
How do I copy and share a location link?
After adding one or more markers to the map, click the "Share" icon in the "Markers" panel. This copies a unique URL to your clipboard that you can share with others, which will load the map with the same markers.
How accurate are the GPS coordinates?
The accuracy depends on your device and method. GPS signals in modern smartphones are typically accurate to within 4.9 meters (16 ft). Accuracy can be affected by buildings, trees, and atmospheric conditions.
How do I get GPS coordinates from a Google Maps URL?
If a Google Maps URL contains coordinates, they are usually in the format `@lat,lng`. You can copy these values and enter them into our tool's manual input fields to find the location.
Understanding Geographic Coordinates
What is Latitude?
Latitude measures a point's distance north or south of the Equator. It is an angle that ranges from 0° at the Equator to 90° (North or South) at the poles. Lines of constant latitude are called parallels.
What is Longitude?
Longitude measures a point's distance east or west of a standard meridian, known as the Prime Meridian. It is an angle ranging from 0° at the Prime Meridian to 180° eastward and 180° westward.
What is Elevation?
Elevation, or altitude, is the height of a point above a fixed reference, usually Mean Sea Level (MSL). While our tool focuses on 2D coordinates (latitude and longitude), elevation is the crucial third dimension for precise positioning.
What is the WGS 84 Geodetic System?
The World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS 84) is the standard coordinate system used by the Global Positioning System (GPS). It provides a consistent reference frame for locations across the globe, ensuring that coordinates from our tool are universally compatible.
