Shenyang: Early Qing Capitals, Industrial Memory & Hun River Parks

Before the Qing dynasty crossed Shanhaiguan to rule from Beijing, its founders raised their first imperial capital here in Shenyang. That layered history remains vividly legible across the city: crimson palace halls and pine-shaded imperial mausoleums share the map with Republican-era mansions, early-20th-century railway plazas, and vast Tiexi foundries reborn as cultural spaces. Paired with world-class archaeological collections and breezy parks along the South Canal and Hun River, these eleven landmarks offer an inviting introduction to the heart of Northeast China.
